Understanding GHK-Cu

GHK (Gly-His-Lys) is a naturally occurring tripeptide with high affinity for copper(II) ions. When bound, the GHK-Cu complex plays a role in signalling extracellular matrix remodelling, angiogenesis and antioxidant response.

Preclinical studies have investigated GHK-Cu in contexts of collagen and elastin biosynthesis, wound closure kinetics, and hair follicle stimulation. Its multi-target profile is due to its ability to modulate gene expression across dozens of pathways in fibroblasts and keratinocytes.

Reconstitution and storage are critical: the copper chelate is sensitive to oxidation and requires cold, dark storage.
